How do you usually start your day?
Your alarm goes off and you hit snooze, only to wake 20 mins later realizing you are going to be late for work and now you’re in a panic. Or you spring into action right away and hit the shower. Or maybe you didn’t get a good night’s sleep and you’re feeling tired and grumpy.
No matter how you wake up, the first few minutes of your day is a very important time that allows you to focus, to set yourself up for the type of day you want to have. Even if you are tired and grumpy, you don’t have to carry that energy through the rest of your day. Take a minute to acknowledge how you feel and then make a choice to change your thoughts.
Before you get out of bed, take 5 minutes to yourself to reset and replenish
- A moment of silence to observe your thoughts. 1 min.
- Get up slowly. 1 min.
- Stretch a little (or more if you have time). 2 mins.
- Another moment of silence to appreciate this day ahead. 1 min. Gratitude goes a long way – however you want to express it – all day!
