In last week’s post I wrote that you should stay out of debt. This week I’m suggesting that you further explore your relationship with money by noticing if you are frequently denying yourself small pleasures because you feel you can’t afford them.
Money does not determine your worth
If you find yourself constantly thinking about money, or lack of, and refraining from enjoying the occasional treat because you will feel guilty, then this is not a healthy relationship with money.
Sometimes you need to do what your heart tells you will bring you joy, rather than always evaluating whether it will be cost-effective. For example, if you are able to treat yourself to a coffee out once in a while, then do. Perhaps it’s worth taking a taxi home late at night for your safety, instead of walking alone. It’s all about balance.
