In the beginning

In the beginning

October 7, 2008 – The start of the journey

Some people think I’m crazy for leaving behind a comfortable life and career for unknown territory, but here I am – I’m finally on my way! It’s 3 a.m. local time in Dubai. There are lots of people in the airport, considering it’s the middle of the night. I’m sitting on the floor counting the number of sleeping feet lined up next to me. I would join them, if only I had a blanket and more than one hour to spare before boarding my next flight to Delhi. This all feels surreal – it hasn’t fully sunk in yet.

It’s quite freeing to be traveling without much stuff. I have a backpack to my name and a couple of boxes that are being shipped from Canada to Scotland, where I’ll start my new life after this trip. I’m off to India – a place I’ve never been to before. To think this all began because of a conversation with someone whom I’ve never met!

I have no idea what the future holds, but I’m excited to see what unfolds. More about this later as I just heard my flight announcement.
